Resorts in Nicaragua
At this early stage of tourism development in Nicaragua, it’s really still all about keeping it small here, and the vast majority of hotels have 20 rooms or less, and are considered “boutique”. With that said, though, there are a handful – just a handful, mind – of Nicaragua resorts where one can experience those top-end accommodations with all the amenities that one might expect from a larger establishment.
The resorts in Nicaragua are located, as you might imagine, on the beaches. Mostly in the southern Pacific region close to San Juan del Sur, although Marina Puesta del Sol is located in the north of the country. Blessed with warm tropical weather year round, tempered by cooling offshore breezes and afternoon rains in season (May-November), the resorts in Nicaragua offer a great variety of experience from the rustic, “barefoot” luxury of Aqua Wellness Resort and Morgan’s Rock, through to the more urban feel of Pelican Eyes Resort and Spa in the heart of the fishing village and surf center that is San Juan del Sur, and finally to the ultra luxury of Mukul Resort, by far the most opulent place in Nicaragua, if not Central America.
As yet, Nicaragua has not entered the full “all-inclusive resort” game, where one receives all, unlimited, food and beverages as part of the package, but many of the places below offer various meal plans or one sort or another. It’s often good to mix and match things – why not stay a few days in a colonial or boutique place in Granada or Leon and then afterwards rewind with a few days relaxation or golf at a resort? Or mix up some rustic time on Ometepe or the Corn Islands with luxury at one of our Nicaragua resorts? Just let us know what you’re looking for and we’ll be delighted to arrange this for you and answer any questions!
