The Classic Nica
The classic Nicaraguan vacation - colonial town and beach!
Spend three nights exploring the colonial town of Granada, the oldest European city in the mainland Americas, before heading to Nicaragua’s primary beach town of San Juan del Sur. This is the typical Nicaraguan vacation – The Classic Nica.
Fly into Managua and transfer to the city of Granada. The oldest European city on the American mainland, Granada represents Nicaragua and Central America at its most photogenic. Over the years the gentrification of Granada has produced an eclectic restaurant and bar scene, and numerous little boutique hotels springing up behind the city’s ornate carved doors. The best thing to do in Granada is just to walk around, soaking up the atmosphere. Granada also has easy access to Lake Nicaragua and its Isletas, the breathtakingly beautiful Laguna de Apoyo, a 200m-deep crater lake with “healing waters”, and also the cloud forests of Volcan Mombacho. While here you will stay at Patio del Malinche for three nights, and you’ll experience a horse drawn carriage tour of the colonial highlights of the town, as well as a tour of the 360 little volcanic islands that shape the archipelago of “Las Isletas de Granada”. Colorful species of birds such as kingfishers, herons, jacanas, magpie jays, oropendolas, flycatchers, parakeets, sandpipers, and others can be enjoyed.
On Day Four you will check out of Patio del Malinche and head to the beach, to Nicaragua’s main beach resort town of San Juan del Sur. Here, you’ll stay at the boutique Hotel Alcazar for four nights, right in town and just across the street from the golden sand beach. You will spend these days relaxing on the beach or by the pool. Fishing, surfing, hiking, and canopy tours are also available here, as well as plenty of other activities, and when the time comes, we’ll take you back to the airport for your flight back home.
