A comprehensive 10-day tour where you’ll experience the best of Nicaragua’s colonial heritage, lakes volcanoes and beaches. It starts when you fly into Managua and transfer to the city of Granada. The oldest European city on the American mainland, Granada represents Nicaragua and Central America at its most photogenic. Over the years the gentrification of Granada has produced an eclectic restaurant and bar scene, and numerous little boutique hotels springing up behind the city’s ornate carved doors. The best thing to do in Granada is just to walk around, soaking up the atmosphere. Granada also has easy access to Lake Nicaragua and its Isletas, the breathtakingly beautiful Laguna de Apoyo, a 200m-deep crater lake with “healing waters”, and also the cloud forests of Volcan Mombacho.

While here you will stay at the Hotel Plaza Colon for three nights, and you’ll experience a horsedrawn carriage tour of the colonial highlights of the town, as well as visit the Laguna de Apoyo, Nicaragua’s most spectacular volcanic Crater Lake. Such volcanic complex was formed approximately 20 thousand years ago; an amazing “laguna” in azure and warm water rests at the bottom of this cone pit. Here you can utterly relax in these waters and enjoy a great swimming experience or just delight yourself in the sun, sip a natural fruit juice of the season, have an ice-cold beer or read your favorite book.

From Granada, it’s a short ride to Lake Nicaragua and from there a short boat ride to the Isletas where you’ll stay at Jicaro Island Ecolodge, a small collection of private hardwood casitas set on a private island in the lake. You’ll spend a couple of days here just relaxing and enjoying your own island retreat, after which you’ll take a boat back to the mainland where we will transfer you two hours to the coast for some beach time at Morgan’s Rock Hacienda & Ecolodge.

You’ll spend your days at Morgan’s Rock relaxing on the beach or by the pool. With meals included you won’t need to worry about a thing. Morgan’s Rock also offers plenty of tours, hiking opportunities and excursions for the more adventurous.

Day 1:  Fly into Managua and transfer to the city of Granada, 45 minutes away. The Complete Nica vacation package starts with three nights at Hotel Plaza Colon.

Day 2: Take a horse and carriage tour of colonial Granada, and learn about the history of this colonial jewel.

Day 3: Today you’ll visit the active Masaya Volcano and the crater lake of Apoyo while in between visit artisans and see their traditional handicrafts. Peruse the markets where you will see Nicaraguan artwork in the form of pottery, leather and textiles- perfect for souvenir shopping!

Day 4: Wander the streets of Granada on your own, find a favorite bar or restaurant, and take tons of photos!

Day 5: Take a short ride over to the lake, where you’ll take a boat to Jicaro Island Ecolodge, your home for the next two nights.

Day 6: Spend today at leisure in the unique Isletas!

Day 7: Take a boat back to the mainland where we will transfer you two hours to the coast for some beach time at Morgan’s Rock Hacienda & Ecolodge.

Days 8-10: Spend today relaxing on the beach or by the pool. Morgan’s Rock also offers plenty of tours, hiking opportunities and excursions for the more adventurous.

Day 11: Transfer back to Managua Airport for your flight home.
